Ashley Offutt

Director, Scholar Support

Ashley N. Offutt is a compassionate and dynamic leader in higher education, currently serving as the Director for Scholar Support. With over a decade of experience in student affairs and academic support, Ashley has built a career dedicated to empowering underserved student populations.

Her leadership is marked by strategic innovation, strategic programming, and a deep commitment to student success. At Virginia Tech, she oversees initiatives impacting students annually. Ashley has successfully led cross-departmental collaborations with areas such as Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs and has driven impactful partnerships with academic colleges and cultural centers.

Prior to her role at Virginia Tech, Ashley served as Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Radford University, where she spearheaded equity-focused programs and advised numerous student organizations. Her earlier roles at Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College reflect a consistent dedication to retention, mentorship, and leadership development for first-generation and students that may have a high financial need.

Ashley is also an experienced educator, having taught African American Studies courses and delivered keynote addresses and presentations on leadership, organizational communication, diversity, and student engagement at regional and national conferences. Her accolades include the Faculty Excellence Award from Radford University.

Ashley holds a Master of Education in Student Personnel and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in African American Studies from Eastern Kentucky University.

She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at Virginia Tech.
