Study Buddies
Find study groups to join
Study Buddies lets students connect with other students in their class sections who are interested in studying together outside of class.
Safety Note:
If meeting face-to-face, always remember to use best practices in safety when meeting up with a study group for the first time. We recommend meeting in groups of three or more in a public location. It’s also a good idea to let someone you trust know where you are going.
How to Use Study Buddies:

You can access Study Buddies from the main landing page in Navigate by selecting the Study Buddies icon next to the quick launch. You’ll see a list of classes you're enrolled in for the current term (use the filter icon if you want to check future terms too).
To get started, select a course you want to join. You can only join the section of the course you’re officially enrolled in, as listed in HokieSPA.
When you join, you’ll be asked to confirm that you’re okay with sharing your Virginia Tech email address with others in your class. If you select “yes,” you’ll move forward. If you choose “never mind,” you won’t be able to see or connect with other students through Study Buddies.

You can then select who you'd like to email. Scroll through and check the box next to their names, or use the search bar to find a specific classmate.
Once you’ve made your selections, click “Email Selected.” If you’re using the mobile app, this will open your device’s default email app. To make sure messages come from your VT email address, set your Virginia Tech email as the default on your phone or device. A pre-made email will appear that you can customize before you send to your classmates.
You can leave a Study Buddies group anytime by selecting “Leave Group.” A confirmation message will ask, “Are you sure?” If you select “yes,” your name will be removed from the list. Keep in mind that any email threads or group chats created outside of Navigate won’t be affected by you leaving the group in Navigate.
